Well, the time has finally come. We get pick up our sweet Wheaten Terrier puppy, Neely, on Saturday. We went about a week ago to go pick her out. The breeder, who is in Conroe, had three litters all born within 14 days. Her birthday will be an easy one to remember, January 1.
We had second pick of the females since we got our deposit in second on the female list. Since I was heading out of town last weekend and the first choice family was going to pick out their puppy on Saturday, we had to go early and give our first and second choice just in case the other family picked one of ours.
Going into a room with 14 puppies was quite overwhelming! I was overcome with joy from their cuteness. It was so hard to narrow it down. We took each litter separately into the family room and played with them for a good while. We finally got it narrowed down to our one favorite from two of the litters (picture below). Almost always, wheatens are born dark like the puppy on the left. One mom had two rare blonde puppies, which the breeder has never before. Wheatens usually lighten up as they grow to a cream/off white color. Our blondie won't change colors at all. In the end, the family with the first pick chose our brown favorite, which probably was our first choice, but I know that we have the puppy we are supposed to have.

The breeder sent me a few pictures of what blonde puppies grow up to look like. Another breeder sent her a few pictures of some blonde dogs she had. We really weren't wanting a white dog, so we a super pumped about her coloring.
We bring her home Saturday afternoon, and she will be 9 weeks old. I need to start mentally preparing for puppy mommyhood! I will post more pics when we get her.
