Onto Vermont. The 3 hour drive there was gorgeous. Why do I live in Houston again?
On our way to our Bed and Breakfast we came across Quechee Gorge and decided to get out and walk around for a bit.
The bed and breakfast we stayed at, Twin Farms, was a Relais & Chateau property. 350 acres of all inclusive greatness. All of the cottages were at least 100 yards apart in the woods so you feel so secluded. Its a small place, only 20 couples can stay at a time so they are great about knowing you by name. Each cottage is decorated different and we had the Log Cabin Cottage. IT. WAS. HEAVEN. Talk about getting back to just nature, peace, and quiet. I told Blake that if something ever really traumatic happens to me in life I am coming back here for a week or two.
Our carport.
The Entry.
Genius idea that all hotels should have. A chalkboard to write what you need housekeeping to leave you.
My favorite part, the screened in porch.
This hammock got a lot of use.
They made us a gourmet picnic. :)
We then walked across the lake and went canoeing.
A day or two before we got there it had frosted which brought a lot of the leaves down. All the red and most of the orange was gone, but there will a ton of yellow still.
The main house.
Cute little covered bridge.
Hammock time with the selfie stick!
Then we went for a little hike in the woods. It was actually really hard to follow the trail/map because the leaves were covering everything. We did get lost for a little (Blake was panicking) but found our way back.
Looks like our friend, Carly's paintings!
A little pre dinner chess (or checkers with chess pieces because I don't know how to play chess).
We had a four course tasting dinner with wine pairings by the fire.
Some of us may or may not have been over served.
This video sums up my feelings about Vermont. What a fabulous trip! I strongly believe that parents need to take a trip once a year by themselves. It helps your marriage become stronger, and recharges you to get home and get back to being good parents.
Vermont, you have a special place in my heart.
