Last week we went on a babymoon to Turks and Caicos. For those that don't know what a babymoon is, its a last vacation for you and your spouse to get away with each other before the little bambino arrives. It has become pretty popular these days with younger couples. In fact, just at our resort alone, we saw two other couples doing the same thing.
We were there for four nights and we were very impressed with the island. It was very clean, English is their spoken language, and its beautiful. They drove on the other side of the road too, which is always neat. It's just on the other side of the Bahamas so it wasn't a nightmare to get there (we only had one stop in Miami). It actually reminded us a lot of the Bahamas.
The day before the flight we got an email asking if we wanted to upgrade to first class for $80/pp. Both Blake and I had never flown first class, and with having to pay for bags on American if flying coach, we thought what the heck! It made flying so much better!! Now I know what I am missing which is rather unfortunate.
Breakfast!
When we got there our room wasn't ready so they comped our lunch by the pool.
Room Tour. We stayed at the Regent Palms and every room there is a suite.
The shower was a room. No door.
Entry way.
View from our balcony.
We then went for a sunset walk on the beach. View of our hotel from the beach.
The sand on the beaches was incredible. It felt like you were walking on powdered sugar. Our hotel was located on Grace Bay Beach.
The sunset did not disappoint. It transformed from the above to the below in a matter of minutes.
That night we had dinner at our hotel at Parallel 23. It was great. The Regent Palms does a fantastic job with ambiance.
The next day we spent entirely on the beach.
Beach belly!
At lunch.
That night we headed to CoCo Bistro for dinner. It was very highly recommended, and one of the most popular restaurants on the island. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it was an outdoor restaurant with a roof of palm trees. So neat.
Picture at hotel after dinner.
Day 2 was solely a pool day. The pool had five beach beds and Blake got up early and reserved one for us. They were so comfortable and better for Blake's back. We have got to get the herniated disc situation figured out!!
View from laying on beach bed.
Mom, these are for you. They had the most beautiful vine flowers. I asked what they were called, but the guy didn't know.
We also made it to the spa this afternoon. It was gorgeous. The treatments were in the little rooms surrounding the pond.
Hotel restaurant.
We wanted a super casual dinner this night so we went to Somewhere on the Beach... Literally, that was the name of the beach bar. We sat and listened to live music and had the best fish and pulled pork tacos.
Night view of the pool.
Day Three!
We walked next door to Mango Reef for lunch.
And did a lot of this...
One last beach pic. Sad to say goodbye.
The last night we went to Grace's Cottage for dinner. It was so cute. It reminded me of Round Top a little bit. The below pic was cocktails (and mocktails) at the hotel before heading to dinner.
Coming home on Sunday we had a 6 hour layover in Miami. Ugh. So, we YOLO'd ourselves and after rechecking our bags, took a cab to South Beach. It was art deco weekend and they had a big street festival going on with a car show.
At lunch.
It was neat! It felt like a trip within a trip. What a way to kill some time!
