Prague

Prague is a great city. It is so old its unbelievable! We were lucky enough to stay at the Four Seasons, and it was fabulous.

Before going we were a little worried about the language barrier because we didn't know a word of Czech. But, most everyone speaks at least some English there so it was okay. A little Czech lesson for you...

Dobre Rano - Good Morning
Mluvite Anglicky - Do you speak English?
Nashledanou - Goodbye

First up on the agenda? Czech beers on the patio. My favorites were Pilsner Urquell and Budvar Light!

What a view!

Charles Bridge tower. The bridge is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river. Construction was started on the bridge in the 1300s!!

Prague to me was like a fairy tale city. I just kept thinking Rapunzel would have lived in a place like this...

We had dinner the first night at a traditional Czech brewery, Olympia. We ate a lot of sausage and potatoes!

After dinner we found this awesome bar outside along the river that had live music.

View of Prague Castle at night. Every night there were fireworks that would go off near the castle. When we were walking back after dinner one night they stated going off. It felt like a Bachelor moment. :)

The next morning we had a private walking tour of the city. Seriously, we couldn't have asked for better weather.

View of Prague Castle. The Castle is actually a mini city within the city. Kind of like the Vatican in Rome. This night we actually ate dinner at the restaurant with the white umbrellas in the picture below.

I love all the red roofs!

The John Lennon wall. In 1988, the wall was a source of irritation for the communist regime. Young Czechs would write their grievances on the wall. Now, the wall represents a symbol of youth ideals such as love and peace.

 American Embassy.

Church of St. Nicholas in lesser town Prague. It was overly ornate. Too much so for my liking.

A fun fact for you: The only reason why Prague wasn't bombed in WW2 was because the Nazi's would use Prague as a vacation spot during the war. Hitler was such a big fan of Prague that he wanted to keep it in tact.

A cute little gingerbread man shop.

View of the city.

Government building.

Heading inside the castle.

Saint Vitus Cathedral located within Prague castle founded in 1344. So Gothic!

So many gargoyles!

Prague Old Town Square.

We had a traditional Czech lunch at a cafe in town square. A lot of great people watching and not a bad view either!

We then walked around all the small streets in Old Town. We saw the oldest practicing synagogue in Europe!

We had a nicer dinner this night at Hergetova Cihelna right on the river. Note to self: DO NOT WEAR HEALS IN PRAGUE. EVER. Cobblestone and heels do not mix. Lesson learned.

Dinner spot.

View of Charles Bridge at dinner.

The next day we had all to ourselves to do whatever we wanted. No plans at all. We thought about taking a day trip, but we had to be up at 3:00 AM the next morning for our flight home so we thought we would just take the day to relax. We had a nice workout in the morning, I got a pedicure, and then we headed out on a paddle boat on the river. It was so much fun!

We then went back to our fave spot on the the river for a beer.

We were headed to old town to walk around some more when we came across Ice Pub Prague. Now, we had thought briefly about going out one night to the largest dance club in Europe (its five stories) but thought better of it. So, when a guy handed us an ice bar flyer, we said why the hell not?! I have always wanted to go to an ice bar, so why not in Prague?

Everything in the room was made out of ice, even our glasses. They give you these thermal jackets to wear because they keep the temperature at 19 degrees Fahrenheit. It was so cold. My toes by the end of the 20 minutes were numb. It was fun though, and a great experience!

That night we had an early dinner at the hotel.

We had such a fabulous trip! It was so fun to get to experience Europe with Blake. Our memories will last a lifetime. :)
