27

The big 2-7 birthday was last week. I really like the sound of being 27, much more than 26 for some reason which is odd because I usually like the even years better. I got to have a few different birthday celebrations, which made it more a birthday week and a half than just a day.

Since my parents were in Colorado for 6 weeks and gone for my birthday, they so kindly paid for a nice birthday dinner with the four of us. I chose Tony's because I had never been, and it was restaurant month so I thought it would be cheaper that way. Well, we got there and no one wanted to do the restaurant month menu which was not in the plan! That place is so expensive. Thank you Mom and Dad for a wonderful double date night out! We missed you, but we ordered enough souffle for all 8 in the family and the four of us ate it all. :)

Then, this next celebration was such a wonderful surprise. Cassie texted me and asked if I wanted to do dinner as a going away dinner for Karen on the Monday night before my birthday. I said yes, of course. I had actually traveled back from Austin that morning for work and then worked right up until 6:30 p.m. trying to get everything done. I was exhausted and literally almost called them to tell them I was going to back out because I was so tired, and dinner was all the way out at highway 6 at Lupe's. From downtown in rush hour that is no fun drive. I walk in and they had gifts, confetti all over the table, a birthday girl hat, and a giant cupcake for me. It was so sweet!! I have such wonderful friends. I just thank God that I decided to buck up and go and not back out. That would have been HORRIBLE!! We did also send Karen off, but it was so sweet of them to think of me.

Yes, I got the embarrassing sombrero, singing, and flan frosting on my nose...

The Friday after my birthday, Blake and I went to Just Dinner on Dunlavy. The place is awesome because it is BYOB with really nice food. We both had a three course meal for $88! We brought a bottle of Silver Oak that Nathan and Michael, two of my summer associates, gave me as a thank you gift for the summer. So good! Sadly, we didn't take a picture because the restaurant is in an old house and is very small which made for not great picture taking.

Then, last but not least, the girls in our SHS girls dinner group (plus Annie and Lauren) met at the new Sonoma Wine Bar in the heights for happy hour and dinner. It opened a couple of weeks ago, and the building is really pretty. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but that didn't stop us from having a great time!

Thanks to everyone for helping make my birthday so special! :) I love you all.
