Two Weeks in The Big D

Let me start by saying that I have never been on a two week vacation. Ever. Until a few weeks ago. I spent two whole weeks in the mountains and loved every second of it. Sometimes on week long vacations, I don't feel like its quite long enough. Two weeks is the perfect amount of time because you come back rested and ready to get back to normal life.

The first two pictures very accurately depict every single morning of the two weeks. Coffee in a moose mug, a fury blanket, Restoration Hardware's foot duvets, and hummingbirds. Pretty sweet!

I flew up a few days before Blake and spent time with my mom, sister, and nephews. We spent one day at the pool.

And had a lot of nephew play time.

Blake, my dad, and Jud all flew up together a couple days before July 4th.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE place in Durango is James Ranch. It's an organic ranch that serves burgers. They grow their own veggies, make their own cheese, have free range chickens, and cattle sans the gross hormone injections and antibiotics. You can see the cattle grazing in the background.

On Thursday nights they have live music.

Such a sweet uncle.

Not to mention its gorgeous. This is the chicken field.

A chicken coop.

It's such a great family environment too.

One day we rode along with the guys for golf.

Cutie!

Our house from the course! Hi Noni and Mayes.

On the 4th we drove to Silverton for the parade. It was a cute little mountain town parade.

Family shot.

Precious.

We then drove back to see the Silverton firework show. It's the best one around. This was the first 4th of July I have ever experienced cold. It was 45 - 50 degrees! Everyone brought sleeping bags and hot chocolate except for us Texans. Good thing we were at least wearing sweatshirts!

The next day Blake and I did our favorite hike we have done up there - Engineer Mountain.

Yep, I have hiking boots. Pretty rad, huh?

We got above the tree line, but didn't get to the very top because of the weather. We will have to do it again on day.

This is about as high as we made it because it started to hail and rain, hard. We hiked down as fast as possible, freezing and getting pelted by hail but actually kinda loving every minute of it. It was such an adventure!

Can't tell its raining here, but we are soaked.

Sadly, Blake had to leave, but I stayed another week. The first few days were just me and the rents. We took a jeep trail one afternoon and stumbled upon this beauty.

Adorbs!

My dad hates ledges...

Me and my wanna be photog self. Blog post to come soon.

Yes, this did happen. Don't judge. I can feel you judging. Right. Now.

Then one day my dad and I did a Colorado Trail hike to Gudy's Rest. It was a 3 1/2 hour hike with great views at the end.

Father-daughter selfie. We actually learned after our hike that it was father-daughter walk week. Check!

Then, at the very end of my trip I had a couple friends come up for the weekend.

We also got rained on during our hike. July and August is apparently monsoon season.

We had a fun night in downtown at dinner and then at the roof top bar with all the local yocals. The question "Do people up here shower or brush their hair"was asked a couple times at the bar.

Gotta love Colorado!
